SENIOR PUBLIC HEALTH NUTRITIONIST

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department has an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Public Health Nutritionist to join our Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) Program in the Public Health Division, located in Concord, California.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assigning and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the WIC Program’s nutritional services component and providing lead direction to both professional and support staff. Duties include performing program liaison activities with collaborating agencies and community groups; assigning, directing and reviewing the work of Nutritionists and interns; serving as a technical resource to Nutritionists; overseeing and/or participating in the training and education of program staff and other health professionals; writing contract bid specifications; directing and coordinating fundraising activities; representing the nutrition program before State and community agencies, various public interest groups and professional associations; developing and evaluating nutrition assessment systems; collecting and analyzing statistical data; and preparing written reports and correspondence.
Minimum qualifications include a Certificate of Registration as a Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association), 3 years of full-time, or its equivalent, experience performing community nutrition work and a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment.
Substitution: Possession of a Master’s degree in nutrition, public health nutrition, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for 1 year of the required experience.
